New Release, New York, NY
An exhibition of works including a large-scale Plywood Painting, new Contained Paintings with 'distressed' frames, two new dibond cloud sculptures, and a wood-paneled bathroom 'renovation,' Suk it Kevin explores the predilection for humans to leave their mark, however slight and seemingly innocuous. Phrases such as "UR alone," "Mom Dad Kid," and simply "love" are carved into the paintings' surfaces, suggesting feelings of boredom and isolation by way of childlike expression. A rainbow-framed row of photographs depicts images of the American West collaged with magazine cutouts and pixelated hearts. In the window, a bright orange gradient suspended cloud sets an ominous, but perhaps ultimately optimistic, tone.
